Linters are the short fibers left on the cotton seed after the ginning process. These short fibers on the seed are cut with sawed linter machines (lintergin) and separated from the seed.

The method of separating linters from the seed differs depending on the cutting procedures: first cut linters are 2-6 mm long and second cut linters are 2-3 mm long in average; however, nowadays most of the linters get separated from their seed as single cut which is average 3.5-5 mm in length.

Cotton linter, compared to wood, is a more productive source of cellulose, and it is the only raw material with a pure cellulose content higher than 80%. The degree of polymerization of cotton linter can be increased more than 7000.

Since linter fibers do not have sufficient length, they cannot be twisted and therefore cannot be used in yarn production. However, cotton linter pulp obtained from linter can be used in approximately 250 different industries, particularly in the paper, chemistry and food sectors.

Aslanlı regularly purchases all kind of cotton fibers from the most modern spinning mills of Turkey and the World that it has strong relationships with, and pays maximum attention to increase the quality together with its suppliers.
